The Bioactive Guarantee

These are the terms of the Bioactive Guarantee. It applies to products containing Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) or Cordyceps (Cordyceps sinensis).

1. The guarantee

If you can show that another food supplement contains a higher concentration of hericenone C (for Lion’s Mane) or cordycepin (for Cordyceps) than the corresponding Functional Mushroom Company product, verified in accordance with these terms, we will refund every order you have placed with us for products containing that species.

2. What qualifies as a comparison

A comparison qualifies if all of the following are met:

1. It concerns the named compound only — hericenone C for Lion’s Mane, cordycepin for Cordyceps. Figures for compound families, such as “total hericenones”, do not qualify.
2. Concentration is expressed in milligrams of the compound per gram of extract, as stated on the certificate of analysis. Comparisons per serving, per capsule or per daily dose do not qualify.
3. The compound has been quantified by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) against a certified reference standard, by a laboratory accredited to ISO/IEC 17025. Results obtained by UV spectrophotometry or other non-chromatographic methods do not qualify.
4. For cordycepin, the comparison product is derived from Cordyceps sinensis.
5. The comparison product is a finished food supplement offered for sale to consumers in the United Kingdom or elsewhere in Europe, and available for delivery to the United Kingdom, at the time of the claim.
6. The certificate of analysis relates to the finished product as sold, identifies the product and batch, and is dated within the six months preceding the claim. Specifications for raw ingredients, including supplier specification sheets, do not qualify.
7. The certificate of analysis is published by the comparison product’s brand and freely accessible from its product page, so the result can be assessed independently. Certificates commissioned privately and not published do not qualify.
8. The comparison product holds third-party species authentication for the same batch — verification, by a method such as DNA sequencing or NMR profiling, that the species is as labelled and the material is unadulterated.
9. The comparison is made against the most recently published certificate of analysis for the relevant Functional Mushroom Company product, as available on its product page at the date of the claim.

3. Making a claim

Email info@thefunctionalmushroom.co with the comparison product’s name and batch number, the certificate of analysis, and the species authentication. There is no charge for making a claim.

4. Verification

We will verify the documentation directly with the laboratory that issued it. We may also purchase the comparison product and have it tested by the same laboratory using the same method; where we do, that result is decisive. We will give you our decision within 30 days of receiving complete documentation.

5. The refund

If the claim is upheld, we will refund every order you have placed with us for products containing the relevant species — a hericenone C claim refunds products containing Lion’s Mane; a cordycepin claim refunds products containing Cordyceps — to your original payment method. Orders already refunded in whole are excluded. One successful claim per customer.

6. General

Claims supported by altered or fraudulent documentation are void. We may amend or withdraw this guarantee at any time with effect for the future; a claim is assessed against the terms as published when it was submitted. This guarantee concerns verified compound content, not health outcomes. It is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
